The Grotto and Garden of Our Lady Of Lourdes
The Grotto and Garden of Our Lady Of Lourdes is a peaceful oasis within a large apartment complex. Located off Eastern Parkway in St. Joseph, at Louisville, KY 40217, the grotto is an outdoor space where visitors can spend time in solitude. It was founded in 1927 and is dedicated to Our Lord. In 2001, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, a community of Catholic women from around the world, helped to create the grotto.
Nearby, the Louisville Waterfront Park is an 85-acre municipal park adjacent to downtown Louisville and Riverfront Plaza. This area is part of the Olmsted Parks Conservancy, which maintains the beautiful gardens. The Cherokee Park, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, crosses over Beargrass Creek. There are numerous pedestrian and automobile bridges throughout the park.
